"I
am intrigued by beads. For centuries, most every culture has produced
beads for different purposes from a variety of locally-available
materials. Beads have rich historical and sociological significance to
complement their great beauty and decorative value. In my work, I
strive to combine old and new, spanning continents and time to create
unusual, wearable art that takes on new meaning for its wearer. I enjoy
exploring different bead sources, materials, textures and colors. Thus
far, I have focused on natural stones, new and vintage glass, steel-cut
beads from the 19th century and silver. The pieces in this gallery are
representative of my work, though I'm constantly creating new designs,
too." |
